BVM Contracting has created a process that allows us to cost out renovations and home building projects BEFORE there is a design or final building permits available. The goal of this service is to give you a representative idea of the cost of your proposed project before you have to spend any money on designs, permits, or surveys.

How does a consultation with BVM Contracting work?

We CAN provide Accurate pricing before drawings are created by completing the following four activities:

  • We discuss and drill down into the scope of work and wish-list for your project. We are going to challenge you to come up with a vision for what you would like to create so we can get you as accurate of a price range as possible.

  • With our database of recently completed projects, from basement apartment renovations up to 5000 + square foot new home construction projects, we will be able to give accurate pricing based on previous projects with a similar scope of work.

  • Having great relationships with sub-contractors, vendors, and material suppliers allows us to make quick contact with industry professionals that can help determine the exact cost of their specific activity in the scope of work.

  • Getting as much information as possible about the home or property that is being renovated or built on to determine existing conditions and property factors that might affect construction. We usually ask for MLS listings, existing floor plans (usually from past real estate listings), pictures, and/or home inspection reports to gain as much information as possible about the property (though if you don’t have any of this information you can still reach out and we can discuss other ways to get enough information). Bonus points if you have an updated survey of your property but it is not a requirement for this step of the process!

This consultation is geared towards people who hate wasting time, money, and effort. This service will allow you to evaluate your project quickly and accurately so you can figure out if you can afford to complete your project (or have to pivot or wait).

How long does the consultation take?

On average we can get you the numbers you require within 2 weeks of connecting. Depending on if we can do the consultation remotely/virtually or if we need to come to your property to evaluate the existing home that may add some time to the consultation period.

Next Steps after you complete your consultation

Once your consultation is complete and we have a realistic budget in place you will either be ready to move into the design phase (which we can help you with) or you can wait to move forward until the project is more financially feasible. There are many times when a client comes to us thinking they want to do a large project when it turns out a smaller, less expensive project will work for their wish-list. We will do our best to evaluate your needs and wants and use our expertise to guide you to the most suitable project or solution.
