Featuring 93 Prairie Drive Home Renovation
Ryan and Kerry are a young couple that ended up buying a fixer-upper in Scarborough through the first-time home buyers program. They were, for the most part, priced out of already-updated homes in East York and their desirable neighbourhoods in Scarborough due to the demand for properties in these areas of Toronto.
This project not only incorporates fully renovated two-bedroom, one bathroom main floor (kitchen, bathroom, and open concept design)…. it also includes a complete, one bedroom legal basement apartment! This last feature helped our young home owners not only to buy a home in Toronto, but to assist with the renovations costs and subsidize the cost of their mortgage!
This home provided a great condo-alternative for the young couple, which was the goal during their property search.
3 bed · 2 bath · 800 sq. Ft.
This renovation project involved a full basement and main floor demolition. The basement was lowered and new concrete poured. Electrical, plumbing and structural integrity were all addressed throughout the renovation to update the “bones” of the property while the walls and ceilings were open. The results speak for themselves.
To find out more about this renovation and how to achieve the same result, we have completed a beginning-to-end blog called Renovation Spotlight: 93 Prairie Drive. This blog details how the couple bought the home, the process of renovating the home, how they financed the renovations, and how they utilized rebates to subsidize the cost of the renovations!
Feel free to start the conversation with us as well if you are in the market for buying a fixer-upper, we will be able to help you through the process of buying the home and completing the renovations properly.
